Colors

It’s funny how you got my curiosity strung out-
From all directions-
Against all objections-
Disconnected me from my reality, my zone, my world-
Reeled me in with a coarse lasso that dug into my sides-
Freshly cut my flesh-
Knee-deep in anxiety-
Desperately keeping my composure-
Laughing on the inside-

Snatched from no-man, woman, and child’s land-
Blade in hand-
Fist-clenched-
Vision scans-
Jagged rocks span right to left-
Obtrusive garbage cans in the quarry of the wasteland, stuffed with mistrust,
Blood drenched my white sneaker-

But I chose to stay cause of this lake-
Measured imperfect by contradiction-
It’s depth, paradox to my existence-
Clarity crystal, reflective true blue shine,
Azure, cobalt, synonyms crowded on a card-
Clouded with lava swirls intermingling as I bled-
Incentive to retreat-
Mesmerized as the crimson pool by my feet slithered and melted away-
Incapacitated by defeat-

I fell back and scraped my head on a stone…
Hinges broke apart…
Hiding from the brutish realities of separation-
Objecting nothing but the truth-
On the banks of muddy waters-
Waiting for that triumphant return-
Of a Hollywood icon with Leno and no plug,
Of that brother whose strictly pounds but finally gave a hug,
Of that crip strapped with two gats and no slugs,
Of that crack-house with a Persian rug,
Of Biggie and Tupac dying and not seeing Shug,
Of that dive bar with a cover charge-
Cause once you see colors like that,
You always go back,
And just waste away waiting for the pain to subside,
Time chased away waiting for that sun to rise,
But, it never does~
